Aquatic Invasive Species - Stop the Spread!
Posted on: Tuesday May 8, 2018 - 10:20 am CDT

Zebra mussels, an aquatic invasive species are in Manitoba waterways and we are all responsible for assisting in the fight to prevent the spread.  Adult zebra mussels attach to anything that sits in the water, including boats, canoes, trailers, fishing equipment, etc. and can survive out of water for 7 to 30 days. When zebra mussels are born (veligers), they are microscopic and cannot be seen but there could be a hundred of them in a single drop of water. That is why it is so important to clean, drain and dry anything that has come in contact with infested waters, including your ATV.
